As a dentist, Dr. Mariana Mintcheva has spent many years studying the causes of tooth discoloration and the possibilities of modern tooth whitening. She was particularly interested in why some stains and discolorations are significantly more stubborn than others and how different types of surface discolorations can be specifically addressed.

In her search for a modern, peroxide-free whitening approach, she discovered the special properties of the natural enzymes papain from papaya and bromelain from pineapple. Scientific studies describe both enzymes in the context of supporting the reduction of surface discolorations and deposits on tooth surfaces.

The centerpiece of the MINT Enzyme Whitening Drops is the innovative MINT Dual Enzyme Whitening Technology™ – a dual-enzyme complex made from the two natural enzymes papain and bromelain.

Papain is extracted from papaya, bromelain from pineapple. Both belong to the group of proteolytic enzymes and help to loosen protein-containing deposits on the tooth surface. It is precisely these deposits that stains from coffee, tea, red wine, fruit juices, or nicotine can cling to.

But not every surface discoloration is the same. Scientific studies show that different enzymes can have different strengths for different types of stains. Papain is studied particularly in connection with coffee-related and color-intense stains, while bromelain is described in connection with surface deposits and food-related stains.

This is precisely why MINT deliberately relies not on just a single enzyme, but combines two natural enzymes in a dual-enzyme complex. While the classic depigmentation technology of our whitening care addresses color pigments on the tooth surfaces, the MINT Dual Enzyme Whitening Technology™ pursues a different, enzymatic approach: The dual-enzyme complex of papain and bromelain supports the reduction of firmly adhering surface stains and deposits to which discolorations can attach.

The Enzyme Whitening Drops are therefore not to be understood as fundamentally "stronger" whitening compared to other MINT whitening products. Rather, these are different, complementary whitening mechanisms. This creates a modern multi-mechanism approach for daily whitening care.

Leave-on instead of rinsing out immediately

A crucial component of the product concept is the special leave-on application. The MINT Enzyme Whitening Drops were developed as an additional step in daily oral care after brushing.

After normal tooth cleaning, 5 drops are applied directly to the toothbrush and distributed evenly over the tooth surfaces. Instead of rinsing the product off immediately afterwards, the drops remain on the tooth surfaces. In this way, classic tooth brushing becomes an additional, targeted enzyme care step.

For optimal results, you should avoid eating or drinking for 30 minutes after application if possible.
